ABOUT
WHAT IS YAW-YAN?
YAW-YAN is our very own Filipino Martial Art born in 1972. Founded by the seminal Grand Master Napoleon “Nap” Fernandez, the name is derived from the last syllables of “SAYAW NG KAMATAYAN”(Dance of Death). This Filipino Martial Art is indeed a dance of death due to its fast, powerful and fluid strikes. The Yaw-Yan fighter has an arsenal of 42 various kicks, and effectively uses the 8 limbs such as the fists, elbows, legs and the knees in combat fighting. Genuine Yaw-Yan movements are the combination of all mentioned. Yaw-Yan is not only a combative martial art, it is also a medium for instilling in its followers the values of loyalty, discipline, perseverance, confidence, and good health.

WHO FOUNDED YAW YAN BUHAWI?
Master Rey Yap was once a student, who became one of the best fighters in the early 80's and indeed a loyal follower of Yaw Yan. A student under the Grand Master Himself from 1979 to 1984, Master Rey had to leave his passion by working abroad for a living. While spending years abroad, he taught the Yaw Yan knowledge during his free time. As he had settled and secured everything in his life, he decided to return to his homeland and pursue his Yaw Yan passion. He founded Yaw Yan Buhawi on August 5, 2007. The Grand Master Blessed and Authorized him to open his own Yaw Yan Gym in pursuit of continuing the legacy of the Filipino Martial Art.
